WRE 2022

ÎçҹѰ»¨ Research Event 2022

What can a philosopher learn from a physicist? How might history enhance our understanding of nanotechnology? Why might research methods from the humanities help inform the design of more effective healthcare?

WRE 2022

ÎçҹѰ»¨ Research Event 2022

The ÎçҹѰ»¨ Research Event 2022 invites you to explore the thorny problems at the intersections of our work and lives through an academic conference for students, by students. Join us to engage with prominent speakers and learn from your ÎçҹѰ»¨ peers at WRE 2022: Exploring Intersections.

Over the course of two days, we will encourage ourselves to discover and engage with unfamiliar ideas, perspectives, and approaches. Our social, political, and environmental realities demand that we think creatively and step outside our comfort zones. By harnessing our different knowledges and experiences through collaboration and effective communication, we can uncover new solutions together.

The WRE will take place in person this year and is free and open to everyone.

Introduction from the Chair - Nancy Karreman

The WRE is an amazing opportunity for students doing work across a huge variety of disciplines to come together and share their passions. I joined the WRE Committee because as a PhD student in public health, one of my biggest concerns is how much incredible and potentially impactful research doesn’t make it out into the public eye due to academic insularity and lack of communication.

WRE encourages researchers to find creative ways to speak about their research to people who are not necessarily experts in their field, along with how to expand their own intellectual curiosity. On a pragmatic level, it’s also an excellent opportunity for students to experience the peer review process, either through submitting an abstract or by serving as an expert reviewer. I hope students will get involved and take advantage of this opportunity to share their research with the larger ÎçҹѰ»¨ community.
