Overview
Join us for the inaugural Gender Hub Reading Group meet-upÌýwhere we will be discussing The Right to Sex by Amia Srinivasan, a collection of non-fiction, feminist essays. A Sunday Times bestseller and Blackwell's Book of the Year 2021, The Right to Sex is a compelling examination of the politics and ethics of sex. Srinivasan explores its current relationship to gender, class, race, and power, whilst remaining hopeful of the possibility of change.Ìý
The discussion will be facilitated by fellows Arushi Garg, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Criminology, and Laura Jeffrey, ÎçҹѰ»¨ Librarian. We know not everyone has time to read a whole book, so we will focus on two chapters ‘Talking to My Students ÎçҹѰ»¨ Porn’ and ‘Sex, Carceralism, Capitalism’. However, please feel free to read other essays and bring your reflections and comments to the session.Ìý
You can access the book online and in print: there are four available and three in ÎçҹѰ»¨ Library.Ìý
